The LSMS Nominating Committee meets annually in September to nominate the following positions:

  • President-Elect
  • Vice President
  • Secretary-Treasurer
  • Advisory Committee
  • Nominating Committee
  • Judiciary Committee
  • Grievance Committee
  • Delegates to the MMA House of Delegates
  • Alternate Delegates to the MMA House of Delegates

AWARDS COMMITTEE

Committee Chair - Ernest Peaslee, M.D.

Each year the LSMS presents several distinguished awards at the Annual Holiday Dinner to members who deserve recognition in the following categories:

ELIZABETH C. BAGLEY MERIT AWARD:
Given to a member physician who exemplifies commitment to the medical profession through an extensive record of service within the Lake Superior Medical Society.

ARTHUR C. AUFDERHEIDE SCIENTIFIC AWARD:
Given to a member physician in recognition of outstanding scientific achievements.

EDUCATOR AWARD:
Given to a member physician who demonstrates teaching excellence and a commitment to medical education through professional activities or community service.

JOHN B. SANFORD COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD:
Given to a member physician who has demonstrated exemplary service to the community through extensive volunteer activities outside the field of medicine.

THOMAS A. STOLEE EXCEPTIONAL DEDICATION TO MEDICINE AWARD:
Given in recognition of exceptional dedication to the practice of medicine.

Annually in October, the Awards Committee Members will be charged with the difficult role of deciding who shall be the year’s recipients. The LSMS is seeking your input to assist in the nominating procedure. Please submit your recommendation(s) to Dr. John Ryden, Chair, or to the LSMS office.
